A lash lift changes the curl of your natural lashes. It does not add fibres. Aftercare should match the lifting system and any tint used at your appointment. Save the instructions you receive and ask about washing, makeup, exercise and swimming before you leave.
There is no single waiting period that applies to every product. Elleebana’s manufacturer guidance, for example, discusses its own cleansing and aftercare approach. Use your own appointment instructions for the system applied to your lashes.
A lift works with the lashes you have

Your starting length and density influence the finish. A tint can make lighter tips more visible, but neither treatment adds new lashes. If added fullness is your goal, read lift vs extensions.
An easy aftercare checklist
- Before leaving: confirm when you can cleanse, wear makeup and return to swimming or exercise.
- At home: avoid rubbing, tugging or pressing the lashes out of shape.
- When cleansing is permitted: clean gently with the products advised and remove makeup without pulling.
- Conditioning: use only products recommended for your treatment. More products do not automatically improve the result.
- If something feels wrong: contact the studio instead of applying a home lifting or correction product.
Mascara, cleansing and daily styling
Once your appointment instructions allow makeup, choose products compatible with your treatment and remove them gently. A lift does not eliminate the need to keep the eye area clean. Avoid trying to increase the curl with another chemical product at home.
A lift is often chosen to reduce daily styling, but the final look depends on your natural lashes. You may still prefer mascara after the advised waiting period.
Why curl and colour fade differently
Aura Beauty Atelier lists a typical lash lift effect of 6 to 8 weeks. Natural lashes grow and shed, so untreated new lashes gradually change the overall curl. The exact appearance and duration vary.
Tint has a separate fade cycle. Aura Beauty Atelier’s menu describes lash tinting as lasting around three weeks. It may soften before the curl disappears. A lighter colour does not by itself mean you need another lift.
Planning the next appointment
Have your lashes assessed before repeating the lift. The condition of the hairs matters more than booking automatically because a certain number of weeks has passed. Mention previous lifts, extensions or any reaction when arranging your visit.

Sensitivity is a separate question
A lift is not automatically suitable if you have reacted to extension adhesive. Different products can cause irritation or allergic reactions. Discuss previous reactions before booking and avoid treatment on irritated eyes.
Seek medical advice for persistent irritation, pain or changes in vision. The FDA’s eye cosmetic safety guidance discusses irritation and reactions. Your clinician should assess symptoms.
